Kathmandu, May 18 : The Nepali Congress (NC) and the Terai Madhes Democratic party (TMDP) on Sunday agreed that the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M), which has emerged as the largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, should lead the next government.

The two parties reached on the agreement during a discussion held this morning to find ways to easily hand over the leadership of a new government to the Maoist.

"Likewise, the meeting held in Kathmandu also discussed the amendment to the interim constitution and smooth running of the CA meeting," the Kantipur quoted NC leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala, as saying.

"The TMDP stated that the constitution should be amended in a package and stressed on the need to setup an all-party task force," TMDP leader Hirdayesh Tripathi informed.

He also informed that the TMDP opined that the agreement signed between the government and Joint Madhesi Front on February 28 should be address through the statute amendment.

TMDP Chairman Mahantha Thakur, leaders Hirdayesh Tripathi, Ram Kumar Sharma, NC leaders Shekhar Koirala and Anada Prasad Dhungana were present at the meeting.
