The Pakistan Government is planning to launch a 'grand operation' against banned extremist outfits, which have been running their covert activities in the country under different name and face.

According to sources, the government is under tremendous pressure from the international community to step action against 'defunct' extremist units that are continuing their agenda under a more humane face.

Insiders said new crop of militants have worried the government and it is now planning some strict measures to curb their activities.

"A new crop of militants have also emerged, 'more violent and less conducive to political solutions than their predecessors'. There are organisations, which were banned in Pakistan by the authorities concerned, but are still operational under different names," they said.

However, it is not yet clear whether the government would also take action against the Jamaat-ud-Daawa (JuD), the front face of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The Khair-un-Nisa International Trust is another extremist group which recently left the JuD and had close links with the LeT, The Daily Times reports.

Sources said that the trust has now aligned itself with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)and is involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan. (ANI)
