Malaysians have expressed anger over the rape of a 10-year-old girl while she was being driven to school and are demanding the culprit be sternly punished for the crime.

Describing the 51-year-old suspect as a "monster" and an "animal," they are asking the Attorney General to give capital punishment to the accused.

They pointed out that "a leopard never changes its spots," reports the Star Online.

Some parents have also urged the community to be responsible for children's safety.

The suspect has been sent on five days remand.

    The Women, Family and Com
munity Development Minister has also called for a policy to ensure that van and bus drivers are accompanied by either a conductor or co-driver. (ANI)
