Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Akram has called for stability in the national team, and urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to stick with newly-appointed skipper Salman Butt.

"There is no continuity in Pakistan. I have seen that we have always given a certain impression to the world showcasing shallowness. We should have a better frame of mind for our cricket and the structure of our cricket," PakPassion.net quoted Akram, as saying.

"It has become really embarrassing over the past four-five years, and that needs to be changed. There have been numerous captains in the recent while. They are brought in and then all of a sudden they decide the job is not for them anymore. The team does not know how to get along with other teammates and that also leads to the team not knowing how to win on the field," he added.

He further said that it was very embarrassing when he heard that Shahid Afridi had resigned after losing the Lord's Test against Australia, which was his first match as captain.

"I was shocked at the timing of the decision. It seemed that he was under tremendous pressure and to be honest, they should not have named him as captain. If he was appointed as the skipper of the team, it was simply because he was considered a father figure for the young side," Akram said.

"He was the senior most player in the side - this seemed like the only reason he was appointed as captain. To leave the side at this point in the tour and a young side at that, it's really heartbreaking for all of the players," he added. (ANI)
