Release of Malaysia's Hindraf leaders 'just rumours'

People should disregard rumours circulated via SMS that the five Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leaders detained under Malaysia's Internal Security Act (ISA) would be released, wife of one of the detainees said.
S. Pushpaneela, wife of Hindraf legal adviser M. Manoharan, one of the five detainees, said the SMS was 'just a rumour', The Star newspaper said Monday.
'I will only believe it if it comes through the proper channel such as the media.
'This is probably the work of some irresponsible people,' she said while commenting on an SMS being circulated that all five detained Hindraf members would be released Monday.
Hindraf, which claims to speak for the two million Tamil settlers in Malaysia, has courted controversy since last November when it held a rally that was forcibly dispersed.
Five of its top leaders, who organised the rally, have been accused of trying to destabilise the state and detained for two years under the ISA.
Following the rally and through the campaign for the March 8 elections, the government of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has been highly critical of Hindraf.
However, some Hindraf activists did contest the election. Manoharan is the newly elected state assemblyman for Kota Alam Shah, after he defeated Barisan Nasional incumbent Ching Su Chen by 7,184 votes.
Hindraf lawyer A. Sivanesan, who is also Sungkai assemblyman, said the rumour was 'pure nonsense', adding: 'I'm unaware of any such arrangement.'

Release Hindraf 5,the goverment should fair to everyone,They stop BERSIH & HINDRAF rally by using rebelious FRU,why not they use against the UMNO people.Clearly show the goverment is BIAS.PAK LAH you should release them otherwise its will getting worst.The goverment think only 30000 people behind the HINDRAF rally, the actual thing the entire INDIAN community is behind them.You can see the results through the election majority vote 95% vote Opposition.Even most MIC people behind them.So release them to win the Indian trust back. |

bukan demokrasi tapi diktaitorshipkerana kerajaan malaysia sembunyi di sebalik kata-kata demokrasi; tapi realitinya ia memerintah dengan gaya diktaitorship. satu undang-undang untuk pemerintah dan kroninya dan undang-undang lain untuk rakyat.
Jika is betul-betul berikan hak sasama, pemimpin Hindraf tidak akan meringkuk dalam penjara di bawah akta ISA. ...ahh... pemerintah keselesaan...government of convenience. |

Paklah masih tak faham ke !Barisan Nasional dan UMNO sudah kena belasah teruk-teruk , tapi masih belum insaf lagi ! Nampaknya macam apabila BARISAN ALTERNATIF ambil alih kerajaan inisepenuhnya baru bolih faham . Kesiannya paklah ! sudah terlambatlah pada masa itu ! Please release the detainees asapPlease release the HINDRAF detainees without further delay. Detaining them further would only infuriate further the just minded people who already knows very well that the Internal Security Act is a tool of the ruling party to intimidate people even when they have legitimate grievances to shut them up. This Internal Security Act has been the whip of the master and has never been used fairly and it is high time, the people must take action to abolish this act once and for all. |
